CoA16. Final Reflections
The closing 'round of words' is designed to validate each person's experience of the session by inviting their summary comment - in no more than 3 or 4 words. The aim is closure and this is not a time for speeches or to re-open any parts of the process that may remain unresolved. The facilitators need to make this clear to participants before beginning the round.
In all of the Circle of Adult's sessions we have run to date, the problem presenter has usually been the final person to speak. But at the end of a very recent session a participant expressed surprise that we didn't give the last word to the 'child' - that was an unarguable point and seemed to us to be totally in tune with the spirit of this work. So that is what we now do.
